As the cord blood banking marketplace has matured and attracted a wide range of industry participants, a variety of conferences and events to support the industry have also emerged, both in the United States and worldwide. Most of these conferences focus on the technical, ethical, and professional aspects of running cord blood banking businesses, but there are speakers that share research advances related to cord blood stem cells and cord blood transplant methodology.
A complete list of cord blood banking events for 2015 is shown below.
HONORABLE MENTION: World Stem Cell Summit (WSCS)
Another conference that deserves honorable mention is the World Stem Cell Summit, hosted by the Genetics Policy Institute. As the largest interdisciplinary meeting of stem cell science and regenerative medicine stakeholders, the event is designed to fostering networking, collaboration, and funding of biomedical opportunities and research. The event is not included in the table above because it is not an event directly focused on the topic of cord blood banking.
However, because the World Stem Cell Summit is an interdisciplinary stem cell event, it will attract members from the cord blood community who are involved with the science and medicine of cord blood derived hematopoietic stem cells. More significantly, Cord Blood Registry®, the world’s largest cord blood bank, was a “Platinum Sponsor” of the event in 2014, which is the highest level of sponsorship available and a large financial commitment.
Clearly, this major cord blood bank prioritized this specific stem cell conference on its annual schedule. In 2015, the World Stem Cell Summit is scheduled for Dec 10th – 12th, 2015
